Introduction

The health insurance premiums Switzerland 2025 are rising significantly again: The average premium for basic insurance increases by around six percent to 378.70 francs per month. For adults this means 449.20 francs per month, for young adults 314.10 francs and for children 117.90 francs. The main drivers are higher healthcare costs due to new medications, treatments and increasing demand. Experts such as Jürg Stupp from the comparison platform Alletta expect costs to continue rising in the coming years.

While supplementary insurance in Switzerland remains relatively stable, rising premiums are putting increasing strain on many households. Families with lower incomes now spend up to 15 percent of their income on health insurance premiums alone. Therefore, a basic insurance comparison is becoming increasingly important for policyholders. By choosing the right insurer, an appropriate model (e.g. family doctor model) and the right deductible, several hundred francs per year can be saved.

A change of health insurance is possible each year on January 1, with a cancellation deadline of November 30. For supplementary insurance, a three-month cancellation period usually applies. Comparison platforms play an important role, but consumer advocates warn about 'pseudo-comparisons' because not all providers are always listed. Transparent providers such as Alletta, however, offer a complete overview of the available insurance models.

The recommendation from experts: Compare health insurance in Switzerland now and act in time to keep the financial burden as low as possible despite the premium increase in 2025.
